Charles was born into a family of scientists. As a child, he was often found outdoors in the countryside, where he collected plant seeds, flowers, and insects during his wanderings. His fascination with nature brought him aboard the HMS Beagle, the ship on which he embarked on a journey that would change scientific thinking forever.
