At home with Marlinde Eliza

creative, mum-to-be, interior lover

Bonjour!

Welcome to NURSERY DIARIES, our new series taking you inside the nurseries of inspiring mums-to-be.

We kick things off with Marlinde, freelance content creator and co-founder of MA-CA, who lives in Amsterdam with her partner Roel. With a lifelong love for interiors and design, creating the nursery for their firstborn son became one of her favourite parts of pregnancy. We visited at around 37 weeks, with just days to go before he arrives in early November.

Step inside, and take a look at the room that’s waiting for him.

A room that grows with him

A little talk with Marlinde

The nursery

How would you describe your nursery in three words?

Warm, timeless and playful. I wanted a calm, cosy space that doesn’t feel like a typical nursery: a mix of colour, beautiful materials, vintage finds and new pieces. A room that suits us now and can grow with him.

A piece with a story

Is there a piece in the room that has a special meaning to you?

Honestly? The room itself. Almost everything has a story. I collected most pieces second-hand and in vintage shops. The cot and one of the artworks came from friends, and the changing table is extra special, because I once lay on it myself! I painted both the cot and the changing table, then went looking for little finds to bring it all together. That mix of old and new makes it feel so personal.

Can’t wait to use

Which Pomme piece are you most excited to use?

The muslin swaddles. They’re so big and soft, and I can already picture him wrapped up in one. I’m also in love with the denim caps. It’ll be a while before they fit, but I can already picture him in one.

A little tip

What would you tell someone who’s about to create a nursery?

Enjoy the preparations and take your time. Look beyond the standard baby shops: browse second-hand sites, visit vintage stores and collect things you truly love along the way. Mixing old and new makes a room personal and unique, and the search for small treasures might just be the best part.

First moments

What’s the first thing you can’t wait to do with your little one?

The small, everyday things: waking up together, endless cuddles, grabbing a coffee and our first walk through Amsterdam as three. I can’t wait to bring him into our lives and make new memories together.

A few little things she can’t wait to use.
